Outer core
The outer core is right before the inner core. It's made of liquid iron and nickel. It's the second thickest layer, with a thickness of 2,000 km. It's outer boundary lies 2,890 km beneath the Earth's surface. It's temperature ranges from 7952 F˚ to 11012 F˚ near the inner core. Because of it's high temperature, modeling work shows that the outer core is a low viscosity fluid that convects turbulently.
